MIT STEAM Camp at Chinese International School

Learning Facilitator

Worked as a Learning Facilitator teaching computer science and engineering to middle school youth in Hong Kong at the Summer 2018 MIT STEAM Camp at Chinese International School (CIS). Supported curriculum development and instructed students to work on engineering projects using Scratch, microcontrollers, and LEGO robotics. Directed a module teaching students to program and calibrate an EEG-driven system (headsets) which navigated a LEGO WeDo motor through a swimming pool obstacle course in response to changes in human emotional states.

A New Model for edX

Undergraduate Research Project

Worked in a team of 3 on a semester long research effort in the MIT Foundations of Information Policy course to investigate the potential of edX to support educational efforts in Africa. The project culminated in a written report proposing the development of SPOCs (Small Private Online Courses) that can be downloaded onto eGranary Digital Libraries and shared with schools in low internet areas of the developing world. These digital libraries would be covered under the TEACH Act and meet a need that would otherwise go unaddressed. This paper was published by the course staff on the official course website as one of 7 chosen exemplary student papers.
